HadSST3.1.0.0 Data: download

HadSST.3.1.0.0 is the version of HadSST.3 used in the HadCRUT.4 dataset. It differs from HadSST.3.0.0.0 in the numbers used to seed the random parameter choices made in generating the ensemble and it also more up to date. It also includes an extension from 2007 to the present based on GTS data. HadSST.3.0.0.0 is available here.

Time series

Times series with comprehensive uncertainties (format).

Ensemble of time series calculated from the data

Time series for each of the 100 realisations for a range of regions (see Format). The ensemble represents uncertainty in the bias adjustments.

ASCII files

The data is available as a set of compressed plain text files in this data format.

Realisations of the data

Each of the following files is a zip archive containing ten realisations of the HadSST3 data set. There are 100 realisations in total. The realisations span uncertainties due to biases only. Measurement and sampling uncertainties (see part 1 of the HadSST3 paper) are found in a separate file.

For each realisation of the anomalies there is a corresponding climatological average for the period 1961-1990. Zip archives contain ten realisations of the HadSST3 Climatology data set. There are 100 realisations in total. The realisations span uncertainties due to biases in the climatology only.

Unadjusted SST data

Bear in mind that the unadjusted SST anomalies contain significant uncompensated biases and should not be used for climate trend analyses. Data format.

NetCDF files

The data is available as a set of compressed NetCDF (external link) files. NetCDF files are CF compliant (external link).
